Director of Information Technology
North Central State College is accepting resumes for Director of Information Technology.  The Director shall provide leadership and management to the Information Technology (IT) department and is responsible for all aspects of information technology management including supervision of information technology employees; budget preparation and management; recommendations for technical acquisitions; development of guidelines, standards and procedures; and strategic planning, tactical action, and operational decision-making.
Essential duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Application Software Development and Support

• Analyze,  develop and manage software to support institutional policies and procedures not supported by purchased software

• Directs new systems development and modification of existing systems.
Evaluates user needs and implements systems and solutions to best service the community.

• Consults with users to diagnose and resolve complex problems.

• Oversee implementation, maintenance, support and upgrade of purchased vendor-supplied application software systems

• Use a variety of query tools to procure data to support user analysis

• Serve as liaison and data reporter for the higher education information system (Ohio Board of Regents)

• Serve as data reporter for the National Student Clearinghouse
• Student Information Systems/Database Administration

• Overall responsibility to maintain and support application software, database structure and capacities, and system software

• Maintain parameter tables within student information system to support institutional policies and procedures

• Coordinate system security, disaster recovery and production scheduling

• Provide guidance and recommendation of new technologies and potential application migrations
• Department Management

• Plan, direct, and evaluate the department's operations, services and staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of support services

• Establish the department's short and long-term goals and objectives, conferring with the College's administration and staff

• Develop and administer the annual department budget

• Establish and oversee the maintenance of department recordkeeping systems, including confidential information

• Lead the IT department’s operational and strategic planning, which includes fostering innovation, organizing and planning projects and negotiating resource allocation

• Serves as a liaison between area of responsibility and other areas to serve College goals.

• Develops troubleshooting and problem resolution programs to ensure a high level of service and efficiency

• Develop and implement department programs and services as needed and/or desired

• Review work in progress.  Adjust work methods as necessary to ensure timely completion and high quality.  Review work upon completion; scheduling additional work as needed

• Manage the personnel of the department
o Review application materials; select interviewees and conduct interviews
o Develop, implement, conduct and/or oversee orientation and training programs for new employees
o Schedule and assign tasks to employees
o Review employee record of time worked for accuracy.  Maintain payroll records and documentation of requests for leave, disciplinary actions and performance evaluations
o Evaluate employee performance.  Counsel employees regarding performance issues
o Investigate and recommend discipline in response to employee misconduct
o Approve leave requests and authorize overtime
o Ensure effective communication of information to all employees
Operations Management
• Direct the installation of software updates, both application and systems
• Manage running of production applications
• Manage systems disaster recovery procedures
• Lead in selection and acquisition of IT hardware, software and operating systems
• Oversee supply requirements for administrative systems
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or related field, Master’s preferred.
• Five years’ work experience as programmer and/or analyst, project manager, or related, and two years supervisory experience.
