Hiring Salary Range: $71,400 - $106,700/year

The campus-wide Messaging, Active Directory forest and enterprise systems infrastructure serves 50+ departments, the UC San Diego Health System and many campus research labs. Under general direction, work independently as a senior IT engineer for the AD Messaging and Windows Infrastructure Team. Will work with management and systems administrators to consult, code, integrate, and maintain customized applications/interfaces to facilitate central AD/campus infrastructure operations and processes. Incumbent will leverage experience as a senior IT infrastructure administrator with technologies such as Microsoft .NET Framework, including ASP.NET, C#, SQL, PowerShell, and RPC - DevOps concepts applied. Responsibilities will include analysis, coding, architecture, and deployment of various automated IT operational processes that integrate with Microsoft technologies as a platform.

~~Must be able to work on-call nights and weekends as job requires.

~~Must be able to work non-standard work week when needed for project deadlines and response to critical systems maintenance or other urgent needs.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Advanced experience with systems management of complex IT environment and other mission critical services.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and other Windows server technologies.
  • Experience with cross-platform OS and application integration (UNIX/Windows/Apple etc.).
  • Extensive experience with VM products and concepts (VMWare/HyperV).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft communications and productivity suites such as Exchange, Lync and SharePoint.
  • Experience with administration of CRM, ERP and other database back-end driven systems.
  • Experience with hybridized cloud environments from major vendors such as Amazon AWS, Google, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience Programming and/or scripting automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VB, .NET framework.
  • Strong analytic, inductive and deductive reasoning skills. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Proven problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced experience writing and editing the most complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution. Experience with design, configuration, operation, repair, and tuning of technology systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing most complex server-based software.
  • Basic knowledge of how to apply technologies and systems to meet business needs. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
  • General knowledge of other areas of IT. Thorough understanding of and experience with systems-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
  • Proven skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent/related functions.
